Hello choir families,
We're all painfully aware of how much work was put into performing for our May Showcase that won't get to happen this year. In order to "rescue" some of the pieces that were near-performance ready, one of the options we may have is to have an "Opening Concert" at the beginning of next school year and sing most of the pieces from this spring. This would be based on the previous JH and HS ensembles, and would be completely optional - extra-curricular and ungraded. In order to refresh our memories of these pieces and put the finishing touches to get them performance-ready (as well as rehearse combined pieces) we would need at least 2-3 in-person rehearsals preceding the start of the school year (assuming the school is open and operating for such groups at that time). The date range I'm looking at is as close to mid-August that we can get, leading up to the concert. One rehearsal might take place during the beginning of the school year - we just have to wait and see what is available. Here is a link for a survey about whether or not you/your student would be interested in taking this route and participating. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers, it will just give me a better picture of if we would have the numbers to make this performance successful for everyone involved. If not, we will explore other options. If so, I'll start organizing the details over the summer. When you take the survey, please limit t 1 response per family (family and students take it together so you're on the same page) and do so from the student's school gmail address. This will ensure that the domain recognizes your email and doesn't deny you access. I can't make any guarantees, but I'm willing to try this if you are! On a final note (get it?) I've included a musical meme that I made with my houseplant. Do you recognize the song?

Our inaugural year of performing Singing Valentines for members of the local community as a fundraiser was a success! With help from the Wilton-Durant Advocate and DHS's own Chronicles, we made $115 in orders and donations, but mostly we made a lot of people really happy. Here are some photos of the day as well as our blurb in the Chronicles.
Singing Valentines are just around the corner and we need your help to spread the word! Right now we have about 5 orders and we need around 9 to break even with our advertising costs. Please share the news with your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers about this awesome opportunity to share your Valentines day with someone special!
Hello parents and family members of Durant Choir and Drama students,
The drama department is planning to do a bake sale fundraiser before/after all three of our Fall Play Performances:
If you or your student might like to tackle some brownies, lemon squares, cookies, or anything in between to help out, please let me know by contacting me directly. We're so excited to be growing our programs and expanding the quality of what we can offer to students! Looking forward to hearing from you! RVC at Tipton Middle School was a success! Junior High students selected to go were: Ryan Brown, Emma Meincke, Kaetlyn Hansell, Lauren Huston, Jada Jones, Brianna Morris, Charlie Ryan, and Alyssa Skriloff. High School students selected to attend were: Isabelle Mathis, Nora Ramer, Janessa Sabin, Lexi Schlapkohl, Ashley Shelangoski, Allie Taylor, and Alexis Woodford. We had a blast!
The vote are in! Choir officers this year will be:
Janessa Sabin and Allie Taylor for the Concert Choir and Kaetlyn Hansell, Lauren Huston, Emma Meincke, and Maddie Utter for the Junior High Choir, with honorary members of Alyssa Skriloff and Ryan Brown. The fall play has been determined and it is: 10 Ways to Survive the End of the World by Don Zolidis. This one-act comedy is full of laughs and bound to be tons of fun. Congratulations to our cast-members:
The Fall Play is coming! Auditions are set for Monday, September 9th after school at 3:30 in the Auditorium. All you need to bring is yourself!
As we enter a new school year we welcome a new director, Ms. Cinnamon Kleeman. She will be at the Open House on Wednesday, August 21st from 4-6pm if you would like to stop by and say hello.
